PROCESS OF ADOPTION:
After we have had time to review your application and check references, we will be back in touch with you. This is a totally volunteer organization; therefore please allow at least 48 hours for us to get back with you. If at that time you have NOT gotten a reply, please e-mail us as your application may not have arrived. (ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED, WHETHER APPROVED OR NOT.)
After your submitted application has been processed, references checked and approved, a HOME VISIT will be scheduled after which time arrangements will then be discussed regarding meeting your potential new family member.
Adoption fees range from $150-$275, based on the age/adoptability of each specific dog. HOWEVER, please inquire about our SENIOR SANCTUARY PROGRAM if you are open to adopting a dog in double digit years. We believe these SPECIAL individuals and families deserve even more consideration/support and we make every effort to make these adoptions a WIN WIN for both our DOG and POTENTIAL FAMILY.

AS WITH ALL OUR DOGS, A SECURELY FENCED YARD IS MANDATORY. THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE LEFT OUTDOORS WHILE NO ONE IS AT HOME TO SUPERVISE. FURTHERMORE, WE DO NOT SHIPOUR DOGS. ALL ADOPTIVE FAMILIES MUST BE WILLING TO COME HERE TO MEET THEM WITH ALL THE MEMBERS OF YOUR HOUSEHOLD, INCLUDING ANY OTHER 4 LEGGED KIDS (DOGS) TO ENSURE COMPLETE COMPATABILITY, A SUCCESSFUL ADOPTION AND A HAPPY FUTURE!
SSR also RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY APPLICATION.
BUFFY is our resident designer breed muffin (Papillion/Sheltie) and she certainly has the best of both's breeds personality. Although rescued from a multiple dog confiscation at an unlicensed breeder's home, Buffy certainly did not come out traumatized. She's outgoing, friendly, doing well at walking on leash and given a clean bill of health (to include: Spay/Dental/HW tested negative and on preventatives and received all necessary Vaccinations). Her past living arrangements certainly didn't ruin this lil 14# lady's ZEST for life.
If you're not completely set on being owned by a purebred sheltie, take a look at this tiny mixed (designer) version...she'll make an excellent family companion.
