DUNCAN

~~Duncan 10-29-03 to 3-28-15

BELOVED FURCHILD of BETH AND STEVE ARNOLD.

Run fast, jump high and bark as much as you want! You have earned your wings my little man! You have made our lives better and we are so blessed to have had you. We will miss you every single day but we know we will see you again. Give hugs to Rosie, Whitney, Mickey, Keisha, Gracie, Daisy and Tawney for us. Find Grandpa and tell him he needs to show you where all the squirrels are. Thank you for your unconditional love, your head tilts, your sighs of content, your pleasure of ordinary things, your love of family and friends, being such a great companion on the trips to Muskegon and Wichita, comforting me when my Dad died, waiting patiently every morning for my yogurt container, tolerating all the dogs that come and go and for just being you. You were a good boy. I love you Dunc.

SCRAPPY (5/24/03 - 4/13/15)

~~From the moment I saw  your adoption picture on the Sheltie Shack web site, I was smitten! What a handsome guy you were. When our family came for meet and greet, I think you knew too - that you loved us as we immediately formed a bond from the moment we met you.

I will never forget our car ride to your new home in Lincoln, Nebraska that day. It was a "foreshadow" of what was to come for 7 more glorious years. You were a "front seat" rider! You weaseled your way into the front seat of our car to sit on my lap "shot gun" all the way home.  You never liked the back seat - no matter how we tried to sell you on the idea you had the most room and best view back there. And you know what? I really enjoyed having you in front seat with me during our journey together.

You were there EVERY step of the way for our family (but mostly me - your mom). You were a little bit of a "rouge" when you first got home - I like to think of you as somewhat of a typical high school boy with a lot of attitude and devil may care life style. But you fit right in with my high school aged daughter! You went to all her cross country meets and walked the park with me before her races. You were always at the finish line waiting for her! You also went to many of her horse shows and would silently wait in the stands while we watched her rides and waited for her results. You helped her study late at night after her swim team meets in the winter. You were right there when she was filling out college applications and then making the move with our family when my husband accepted a new job in Denver, Colorado - and my daughter started college at Colorado State. You helped move her into her dorm room and went to her first homecoming (well you did have to stay in the hotel room - but we took you out to dinner in downtown Ft. Collins after the football game). You kept me company when she was away at school. You were my walking companion on the golf course in Arizona for the past 4 winters and you developed into a very distinguished gentleman that everybody loved to pet! All the while - you continued to sit in the front seat as much as you could. When your body started to age the past few years (mine too) our walks got a little shorter and a little slower...but then you were my TV buddy and would watch all my favorite shows with me.

You taught us all that you life can throw you lemons, but if you play your cards right, you can make lemonade (and a few dog treats to boot). You were the "poster boy" for every dog rescue organization and a good will ambassador for the sheltie/collie breed. You NEVER failed us - and we will never have another boy as wonderful as you.  We miss you dearly, but know you are in a place with no more stiff legs and pain. Until we meet again my handsome "little man" - I am hoping you are enjoying your golf course walks with many treats!  Love, Mom
