Hi, my name is Sonic because I was found wandering around a Sonic Drive Inn in western Oklahoma.  After a couple days a wonderful family stopped and picked me up.  They took me to their home to help me either find my owner or another family that would give me a good home.  After running ads in the newpaper and sharing my info with local authorities, they didn't have much hope of finding a former owner so they then contacted a Rescue Organization that helped find me this nice place to stay (with other temporarily homeless little shelties just like me).  My new friends here at Sheltie Shack will be helping me to find a special person or family of my own.

We were told that Sonic may be about 5-6 years of age, however, we think he may be a bit older than that, closer to 8-9. This little fella is just as cute as a button (with an unusual pattern for a sable merle) and has the personality to match. 

Sadly, Sonic has obviously not had any medical care in the recent past and so we took him right in to be checked out at our Vet Clinic.  After running a blood panel it was determined that the LACKING OF HAIR was due to him being hypothyroid.  With a very inexpensive daily prescription, he will get his hair to grow back in nice and full and be as good as new.  Other than that his lab results were unremarkable. In the meantime, he will also be neutered and have a much needed dental, too. 

Don't let age deter you from asking about meeting this cutie pie, he is so outgoing and friendly and doesn't know a stranger.  He could make you smile day in and day out if you gave him a chance.  What senior dogs often give up in years, they give 10 fold in character and affection.

PROCESS OF ADOPTION: 

After we have had time to review your application and check references, we will be back in touch with you.  This is a totally volunteer organization; therefore please allow at least 48 hours for us to get back with you. If at that time you have NOT gotten a reply, please e-mail us as your application may not have arrived. (ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED, WHETHER APPROVED OR NOT.)

After your submitted application has been processed, references checked and approved, a HOME VISIT will be scheduled after which time arrangements will then be discussed regarding meeting your potential new family member.

Adoption fees range from $150-$275, based on the age/adoptability of each specific dog.  HOWEVER, please inquire about our SENIOR  SANCTUARY PROGRAM  if you are open to adopting a dog in double digit years.  We believe these SPECIAL individuals and families deserve even more consideration/support and we make every effort to make these adoptions a WIN WIN for both our DOG and POTENTIAL FAMILY.
